METASTATIC CANCER OF THE OVARY
Dr. Mark Pleatman presents a case of ovarian carcinoma in a 92 year old woman who presented with malaise, abdominal distension, and loss of appetite. CT scan showed ascites and omental caking. No specific mass was seen. Paracentesis was done first, but cytology was negative. Laparoscopy was therefore done to make a diagnosis. A 5 mm. laparoscope was used to minimize the risk of leakage of ascites fluid from the incision after surgery.
