Office hours are by appointment only! The Bloomfield Hills office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Dr. Pleatman sees patients on Monday and Wednesday. It is helpful if you call as early as possible to make you appointment so we can accommodate your schedule as well as the doctor's.

Please call at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel your appointment; otherwise you may be charged a cancellation fee.

If an urgent condition arises, we will schedule an appointment for you as soon as possible. It is helpful to contact the office as early as possible if you need same-day urgent care, especially since Dr. Pleatman is usually in the hospital rather than the office.

The office often stays open during lunch periods if you should need to stop by. However, during non-regular working hours, all calls are picked up by an answering machine. The answering machine will take messages or direct you to call the answering service, at (248)857-9496 if the doctor needs to be contacted immediately. They can put you in touch with the Dr. Pleatman but for routine office needs (office appointments, routine prescription refills, test results), please call our office during regular operating hours.

Please bring copies of Medical reports, X-rays, CT-scans, etc. that need the doctor's review during your consultation.

Test Results

Pathology and blood test results are usually available within 3-5 working days. The office will call you automatically with all results. If you have not heard from the office within 7-10 working days from the date of your test, please call the office

Patients Coming from Far Away for Weight Loss Surgery

Many of our patients come from a long distance away. Our goal is to organize your visit in advance so there are no surprises. You will come to Michigan, see me in the office and go through your pre-op teaching in one day, and then have your surgery the following day. You will leave the hospital when ready and recuperate in a local hotel. You will see me in the office within a week of the surgery and be cleared to return home. Most follow-up can be done by phone or email, so return visits are generally not necessary.

In order to make this happen we would like you to be in optimal condition before you come to see us. We ask that you obtain a letter of clearance from your personal physician. In some cases Dr. Pleatman will speak directly to your physician. Psychological evaluations are generally not required. Dr. Pleatman will also speak with you to make sure all questions have been answered. He may ask you to lose some weight before your surgery. Finally, we ask that you bring a companion with you to drive you around and take care of you during your recuperation period.

We realize that one of the main reasons you may be coming to us is because of our reasonable package pricing for weight loss surgery. These prices include services from Dr. Pleatman for your operation and all post-op care, as well as hospital and anesthesia charges. It also includes the cost of any preop testing that may be required. It does not include the cost of airfare, hotel, or food. These prices are listed in the Patient Information Packet that you can download from our website.
