You are invited to submit any surgical case of your preference to laparoscopy.com.

All cases should be related to laparoscopic surgery or other microinvasive procedures such as thoracoscopy, arthroscopy, GI endoscopy, etc.

If your case is selected, it will appear on "Laparoscopy.com" home-page as the "Case of the Week". and included in our "Pictures" or "Movies" web-pages depending on the type of format submited.

You will be acknowledge as the source of the material and a hyperlink to your e-mail and web-page will be created.


Instructions for submission:

Send your favorite case as a series of pictures or as a movie

PICTURES:

Images of your case can be obtained by using a scanner and saving them as .gif or .jpg files. You can also acquire pictures from a VHS video by connecting your computer to your VCR using a video-capture card installed in your computer. Video-capture cards can be internal (xxx) or external (snappy,xxxx).

recommended picture features:
format: .jpg or .gif
size: no more than 20 KB
quantity: no more than 8 pictures

Once you collected the series of images, create a .zip file containing all of them, and attach this file to an e-mail . Include all legends for the pictures.

Also with the attached .zip file, a sound file that will be used as background music or explanatory commentof less than 1 MB can be included. The best formatted, recommended is Real Audio r, which uses a compress format (.raw) that converts 20 MB of a standard .wav file to approximately 1 MB, very convenient for multimedia or on-line audio-visual. You will need an "encoder" for converting files from .wav to .raw format. For more information go to Real Audio r.

MOVIES:

Creating a movie is very similar to making pictures. VHS video-tape will serve as the image source. Your VCR should be hooked up to the computer via a capture-card. A video capture card can be external (snappy) or internal (xxxx). Files should be saved as .avi files. and sent by e-mail as an attached file.

E-mails should be sent as MIME.
